Eberhard was only 22 when he founded the company. From inception the company focused on technical and professional watches, producing its first wrist chronograph in 1919. Eberhard developed strong ties with Italy — the Italian Royal Navy adopted Eberhard chronographs in the 1930s — and the brand remains especially popular in the Italian market. A notable technical first: the Chrono 4 (2001), the first chronograph with all four counters arranged in a single horizontal row. Landmark models include the Extra-Fort (1940), the Scafograf diver (1959), and the Scientigraf (1961). In 1969, Italian businessman Palmiro Monti acquired the brand from the founding family, deepening the Italian identity. Eberhard & Co. remains an independent brand today. For collectors, vintage Eberhard chronographs from the 1940s–1960s — particularly Extra-Fort and Contograf references — are actively sought. Since 1996, has focused on luxury king-size wristwatches: 2001, it launched Chrono-4 "the first chronograph in history of watchmaking whose counters are arranged in one row".
