Izis - Izis photograpies, 1944-1980 - 1994

This Japanese exhibition catalogue presents the work of Izis, also known as Israël Bidermanas, one of the notable humanist photographers active in post-war France. Titled “Izis Photographies 1944–1980”, it surveys his photographic career across more than three decades. The book includes black-and-white photographs taken in Paris, London and other locations, portraying street life, children, workers and ordinary people. His images are known for finding quiet poetry in everyday scenes and for capturing natural expressions and fleeting moments with sensitivity. This Japanese-language edition was edited and published by G.I.P. Tokyo in 1994 as the catalogue for the exhibition “Izis, the Foreigner Who Loved Paris”. The exhibition was held in Tokyo and Osaka between 1994 and 1995. In addition to the photographic plates, the book includes titles, locations and dates for individual works, as well as biographical information, exhibition history and a list of publications. The book measures approximately 29 × 22 cm. It offers a well-structured overview of Izis’s photographic work and is suitable for collectors of twentieth-century photography, Paris imagery and humanist documentary photography. No significant damage is visible, and the book is in good overall condition. --- Keywords --- Izis / Photography / G.I.P.
