Sviatlana Petushkova - Žolinės — XX
This photography is part of the ongoing photographic series Žolinės, inspired by the visual language of classical botanical atlases and herbarium collections. The project explores the relationship between scientific observation and artistic interpretation, transforming common plants into quiet, contemplative portraits that celebrate their individuality and ephemeral beauty.
Against a deep black background, a single branch emerges with delicate pink berries and muted green leaves. The subtle motion blur softens the image, suggesting the gentle movement of air and introducing the passage of time into an otherwise carefully composed botanical study.
This is a large-format digital photograph printed using museum-quality archival pigment inks on Fabriano cotton fine art paper. The combination of premium materials ensures exceptional tonal depth, rich color reproduction, and outstanding longevity, with fade-resistant pigments designed to preserve the artwork for generations.
Printed in 35 × 50 cm, the work reflects a contemporary approach to botanical photography while paying homage to the aesthetics of nineteenth-century botanical illustration.
Importantly, Žolinės – XXXVII has already been presented in significant exhibition contexts. The work was exhibited at the National Gallery of Art of Lithuania in 2023 and 2024, and at GODO Gallery in Vilnius as part of the artist’s solo exhibitions in 2024 and 2026.
This exhibition history, together with the limited edition and fine-art printing process, makes the work a distinctive opportunity for collectors interested in contemporary photography, botanical art and emerging Lithuanian contemporary art.
