About the Artwork & Metaphorical Vision
"Cube" is an uncompromising, intimate journey into the deepest, uncharted territories of the human psyche. The work functions as a powerful spatial metaphor for the unknown lurking deep within us—those buried shadows, latent tensions, and unvoiced conflicts that dwell far in the black void of the subconscious mind.
At the center of this claustrophobic space, the artist has captured three male figures. Their bodies defy classical anatomy—they are strikingly exaggerated, unnaturally elongated, and dreamlike, intensifying the oneiric, somnambulic atmosphere of the piece. This physical distortion becomes a direct vehicle for psychological weight: the stretched necks, elongated torsos, and a hand gripping the face of the central figure convey an aura of inner silencing, internal fracture, and a silent confrontation with one's own alter ego.
The entire composition is deeply surrealist, where reality blurs with dream and subconscious revelation:
The Heavy Black Box (The Cube): Far more than a mere frame, it serves as an architectural prison isolating the secrets of the mind. The monolithic, matte black finish defines the strict boundary between the rational outside world and the dark inner abyss.
The Golden Mirror in the Background: Placed deep behind the figures, the mirrored surface does not yield a sharp, literal reflection. Instead, it softly and enigmatically catches the contours of the elongated bodies, bestowing them with a warm, mystical glow and opening up an illusory, second dimension within the narrow box.
Matter Breaking the Frame: At the base, the solidified, organic material slowly spills over the lower rim of the black box—as though the contained psychological pressure and suppressed inner turmoil can no longer be restrained by the structure's physical boundaries.
Artistic Merits & Technique
Surrealist Expressiveness: The exaggerated proportions and manneristic elongation of the figures lend the sculpture exceptional theatricality and emotional tension, echoing existential and figurative expressionism.
Dialogue of Textures & Contrast: A masterful synergy of casting resin, synthetic polymers, and an MDF structure. The stark, matte darkness of the outer frame contrasts vividly with the tactile, fluid surface of the figures (smooth sections juxtaposed with raw textures and dripping formations) and the warm radiance of the golden mirror.
Multidimensional Perception: Depending on ambient lighting and the viewer’s perspective, the golden reflective backdrop continuously reveals new anatomical nuances and dynamic shadows.
Versatile Display: Thoughtfully engineered and balanced to offer two distinct exhibition methods—it serves equally well as a freestanding tabletop/pedestal sculpture and as a wall-mounted relief object ready to hang.
