Mercedes-Benz - 220 SE Convertible - 1962

GENERAL

This nice Mercedes-Benz was imported to Europe from the United States in 2014, with customs clearance completed in Gdynia, Poland, where all customs duties and taxes were fully paid. The further history of the vehicle remains unknown. Between 2022 and 2023, the car underwent a comprehensive, ground-up restoration. Following the completion of these extensive works, the vehicle was thoroughly checked and tested, having covered just 80 test kilometres since. It represents a truly magnificently restored classic that is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.

BODYWORK & PAINT

During the restoration process, the bodywork was completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned of dirt, old paint, and rust via sandblasting. All damaged metal panels were replaced with brand-new parts, after which the body was expertly primed, repainted, and finished with two double coats of clear varnish. The underside was treated with a high-quality anti-corrosion coating, and all necessary metal parts were re-galvanized. More than 100 individual chrome elements were professionally renovated. Furthermore, the car rides on brand-new whitewall tires that perfectly complete its timeless classic appearance.

TECHNICAL DATA

The mechanical components were similarly overhauled from A to Z. The engine was fully dismantled and cleaned, while the cylinder block and head were re-ground. New Mahle piston rings were installed alongside a new crankshaft, bearings, sprockets, timing chain, valves, valve springs, and seals, after which the block was neatly painted. Additionally, the fuel tank and fuel lines are brand new, and both the fuel pump and the injection pump were fully regenerated. The braking system and suspension were also renewed; the brake servo was refurbished, and all brake linings, brake lines, wheel cylinders, bearings, seals, and shock absorbers were replaced.

INTERIOR

The interior was renewed with great attention to detail and exudes pure class. The front seats feature brand-new, high-quality leather upholstery, while the dashboard has been embellished with new veneer. A standout highlight is the new soft top complete with headliner, supplied by the renowned specialists at KHM. Combined with all the newly restored chrome accents and fresh side moldings, the cabin presents itself in absolute perfection.

DOCUMENTS

The vehicle is supplied with the official customs clearance documentation from Gdynia, Poland, confirming that all applicable import duties and taxes have been settled. Furthermore, the original American Certificate of Title from the State of Wisconsin is present with the car.

COLLECTION

The Mercedes-Benz can be viewed and collected in Giżycko, Poland. Upon handover, the vehicle, its keys, and all available import and title documentation will be provided directly to the buyer.
