The PM 54 MK2 (also written PM54II) was a digital monitoring amplifier manufactured by the Marantz Corporation. It was 60-watts (rms) per channel into 8-Ω speaker loads. It used AVSS technology, custom components, and FET phono section for MM or MC cartridges. This pre-main amplifier was developed along with the PM-64 based on the concept of digital compatibility and realized AVSS mounting and low-impedance compatibility. Equipped with AVSS (Auto Voltage Shift Supply) that shifts the output supply voltage according to the power. By driving the power element at the output supply voltage most suitable for each power from small output to maximum output, high power is realized while maintaining the quality. Designed for low impedance, it maintains power even when the speaker impedance momentarily fluctuates to an extremely low value. It is equipped with a direct switch for higher SN ratio and high-speed signal transmission of digital source. In addition to the MM input, an MC input is also installed for playing analog discs.
