Executed in color on paper with delicate brushwork and subtle shading, the artwork captures a poised courtesan in elegant attire, embodying the gentle charm and grace of Edo-period aesthetics. The artist’s signature “Miyagawa Chōshun” and gourd-shaped seal (hyōtan-in) appear on the lower section. Chōshun (1683–1753), founder of the Miyagawa school, was renowned for blending courtly Tosa traditions with the lively realism of ukiyo-e.
