She is facing right, wearing a formal gown . Latin inscription “M. THERESIA D. G. R. IMP. HU. BO. REG.” surrounds her, which translates to: “Maria Theresa, by the Grace of God, Empress of the Romans, Queen of Hungary and Bohemia.” The reverse: A Double-Headed eagle (a classic emblem of the Holy Roman Empire). The crowned eagle with a sword in one hand and a scepter in the other. The Habsburg shield, embellished with heraldic icons of Austria, Hungary, Bohemia, and other Habsburg lands, rests on the eagle's breast.
