Jarra - Cerâmica - Navio espanhol de 1800

19th Century Spanish Glazed Terracotta Vessel with Twin Handles Western Europe, Spain, ca. 19th century CE. A charming and authentic Spanish terracotta vessel, skillfully wheel-thrown and finished with a rich earth-toned orange glaze covering both the interior and exterior surfaces. The form is elegant yet utilitarian, featuring twin strap handles, a gently incised rim, and a subtly corseted midsection that adds visual balance and character. The warm glaze displays an attractive natural craquelure, enhancing the vessel’s historic appeal. This type of pottery was traditionally used in domestic settings and reflects the enduring ceramic traditions of rural Spain during the 19th century. The surface retains light earthen and mineral deposits, consistent with age and long-term use, contributing to its authentic patina. Condition: Age-commensurate wear throughout, including stable hairline fissures, small chips, and abrasions to the body, rim, and base. No modern repairs observed. Structurally stable. Overall very good condition for its age. Dimensions: Height: approx. 13.3 cm Provenance: Private Los Angeles County, California, USA collection; acquired by descent from the owner’s father. The collection was assembled between 1950–1990. Most recently purchased from a leading auction house in Colorado in 2025. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany this lot. An excellent addition for collectors of European folk pottery, rustic interior design, or 19th-century ceramics, offering both decorative charm and historical value.
