Holmegaard - Decantador - Vidro - Snapsehunden
This unique glass carafe is a "Snapsehund" (also called a Fyldehund), which was made at the Danish glassworks Holmegaard.
The design is associated with glassmaker Erik Meisner, among others. Some examples date back to around the mid-1900s, while other similar models may be older.
Holmegaard Glasværk was founded in 1825 and is one of Denmark's oldest glassworks, but was split up in 1995 so that the packaging part was sold to Ardagh and the art part closed in 2008.
In 2020, the place reopened under the name Holmegaard Værk. It is a museum with a very large number (40,000) of Holmegaard products in the collection that are on display, some of the most famous ones can be seen up close. In addition, changing glass artists demonstrate how to work with glass and you can try grinding on glass yourself. It is common to talk about glass blowers, but even though some of them actually blow, they are called glassmakers.
