Cimmerian Bosporos – Pantikapaion Circa 310–304 BC AE (Orichalcum) – Pantikapaion mint (modern-day Kerch, Crimea) An attractive bronze issue from Pantikapaion, the principal city of the Cimmerian Bosporos and an important Greek trading hub on the Black Sea. The obverse features a bearded head of a satyr facing right, a distinctive and expressive design associated with Dionysian imagery. The reverse shows the forepart of a griffin to the left, with a sturgeon below — a unique combination reflecting both mythological symbolism and the economic importance of fishing and trade in the region. Coins from Pantikapaion are well known for their artistic character and cultural blend of Greek and local influences.
