Experience the unique charm of East German engineering with this authentic Ihagee Exa IIb. As a more streamlined and user-friendly sibling to the legendary Exakta, the Exa IIb represents a significant chapter in the history of Dresden-based camera manufacturing. Produced in the mid-1960s, this model is famous for its distinctive trapezoidal body and the transition to a more modern focal-plane shutter, making it a rugged and reliable choice for vintage SLR enthusiasts.

Key Benefits
Historical Pedigree: Crafted by Ihagee Dresden, the same factory that pioneered the world’s first widely successful 35mm SLR system.

Classic Exakta Mount: Built with the legendary Exakta bayonet mount, providing access to a vast array of world-class vintage lenses from Carl Zeiss Jena, Meyer-Görlitz, and Schneider-Kreuznach.

Refined Mechanics: Unlike earlier Exa models with flip-shutters, the IIb features a more sophisticated focal-plane shutter and a fixed pentaprism for a bright, eye-level shooting experience.

Tactile "Left-Handed" Ergonomics: Features the iconic Exakta-style front-mounted shutter release, offering a unique and engaging manual shooting experience.

Features
Camera Type: 35mm Single Lens Reflex (SLR).

Mount: Original Exakta/Exa stainless steel bayonet mount.

Shutter: Focal-plane shutter with speeds ranging from 1/2 second to 1/250 second, plus B (Bulb).

Viewfinder: Fixed eye-level pentaprism with a ground-glass focusing screen.

Film Advance: Features a modern rapid-wind lever and an integrated frame counter on the top plate.

Construction: Solid all-metal chassis with high-quality black textured leatherette and a signature "EXA IIb" front engraving.

Condition
Rated 3.5/5. This Exa IIb is in very good cosmetic condition. The satin chrome surfaces are clean, showing only light surface marks consistent with its age. The black leatherette is fully intact and retains its original texture. A notable "Heynderickx" dealer marking is present on the back plate, adding a touch of European provenance. The mirror is present and reactive, and the viewfinder provides a clear image. Mechanically, the film advance and shutter release operate with a firm, mechanical action. While the camera appears well-preserved, the shutter timing accuracy is untested. It is sold as a professional-grade collectible or an iconic display item.

What's Included
Ihagee Exa IIb SLR camera body.

Integrated Exakta bayonet mount.

Original Ihagee brown leather "ever-ready" carrying case with strap.

Note: Lens and film are not included.

Why This Product?
The Exa IIb is a perfect entry point for those looking to explore the eccentric and high-quality world of Dresden optics. It offers the prestige of the Exakta system in a more compact and intuitive package. For the collector of Eastern Bloc history or the student of mechanical design, this Exa IIb kit—complete with its original leather case—is a standout example of analog craftsmanship.
