[Description]

Throughout history, the most important lapis lazuli deposits have been located in the Badakhshan region of Afghanistan, where this stone has been mined for over 6,000 years. Lapis lazuli originating from Afghanistan is regarded as the highest quality, renowned for its deep, intense blue tones and rich distribution of pyrite. The stone was considered sacred by the Pharaohs and was used in jewelry and funerary objects, such as Tutankhamun’s burial mask. It also appeared on royal seals and religious artifacts. In many cultures, it is known as the “stone of kings.” Lapis lazuli has long been regarded as a symbol of wisdom, inner intuition, and spiritual awareness.

This necklace is composed of 19 round-cut (cabochon / round-cut) natural lapis lazuli stones and 19 baroque-cut pearls. The lapis lazuli specimens used are lazurite-based, featuring naturally occurring pyrite inclusions and calcite veining, thereby preserving the stones’ original mineralogical structure.

The connecting elements between the stones consist of spheres, granules, and silver beads produced using the traditional granulation (güherse) technique. All metal components are made of 925 sterling silver and have been entirely hand-shaped without casting, in accordance with traditional silversmithing practices.

Independent of industrial mass production, this piece demonstrates artistic and collectible value through its material selection, stone arrangement, and metal craftsmanship. Preserving mineral integrity, sustaining traditional techniques, and reflecting master artisan workmanship, it represents a rare and original handcrafted lapis lazuli and pearl sterling silver necklace.
