Main Decoration: Mahakala Identification: The central image of the box depicts the wrathful head of Mahakala (also known as Mahakala). Mahakala is a principal guardian deity in Tibetan Buddhism, symbolizing the overcoming of afflictions and protection of peace and well-being. Details of Expression: The image features wide-open, glaring eyes (three eyes, one on the forehead), a broad mouth with fangs, and hair standing on end. Large earrings adorn the ears, perfectly embodying the awe-inspiring power and majesty of a guardian deity. Edge Decoration: The rim of the box is surrounded by a beaded border (granular border), exhibiting meticulous craftsmanship typical of Tibetan metalwork.
