Item Description
A fine Japanese ceramic matcha tea bowl (chawan) by an unidentified but accomplished studio potter, housed in a traditional paulownia wood box (kiribako). The bowl displays a captivating interplay of iron-black glaze as the base, overlaid with flowing patterns of warm yellow-ochre and mottled green that drift across the surface like clouds or shifting mountain mist. This sophisticated combination of glazes speaks to a high level of technical mastery and artistic sensibility.
The interior is covered in a deep, lustrous iron-black glaze with a subtly crystalline surface texture that shimmers gently in changing light. The outer wall reveals a dynamic landscape of dark iron tones punctuated by amber-yellow and olive-green passages, with the glaze naturally thinning toward the rim to expose the warm clay body beneath.
