Jarra - Grés - Japão - Mino, Cerimônia do Chá - Mizuno Takuzo(水野澤三)(n.1936)

A water jar that carries the spirit of the tea room — raw, contemplative, and deeply Japanese. This mizusashi (fresh water jar) is a significant work by Mizuno Takuzo, master potter of Youzan-gama kiln and designated Intangible Cultural Asset of Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. Fired in the Mino tradition, the piece bears the title Miyamaziro (Deep Mountain Path), inscribed on the original wooden box. The form is boldly constructed — a swelling, rounded base in natural ash glaze transitions dramatically upward into a cylindrical neck finished in deep iron-red, the surface alive with coil marks, texture, and kiln atmosphere. Two twisted rope-form handles flank the body, adding sculptural weight. The fitted lid echoes the red-clay upper body with a gnarled knob finish. This is a piece that speaks of fire, earth, and the meditative world of chado. Artist Profile Mizuno Takuzo operates Youzan-gama kiln in the Mino region of Gifu Prefecture, one of Japan's most historically significant ceramic centres. He holds the designation of Intangible Cultural Asset of Toki City. His works have been presented to the Imperial Family — including to the Crown Prince and Prince Mikasa — and he has served as a teacher of the Royal Household. His ceramics are rooted in the Momoyama-period Mino tradition, combining ancient techniques with a deeply personal and expressive approach to form and surface. Condition Good condition. Minor signs of age and use consistent with a work of this nature. No chips, cracks, or structural damage. Shipping Carefully packed with professional-grade materials and shipped with full tracking from Japan. Comes with original signed wooden box (tomobako), storage cloth (tomobukuro), and artist's certificate (na). ※Important Information – Please Read Before Bidding※ Customs duties, VAT, and import clearance fees are not included in the shipping cost and are the responsibility of the buyer.
