Quoran box - Prata - Iraque - a primeira metade do século XX
Silver box from Iraq with three bails, which suggests that the amulet box could be either attached with strings to the forearm or hung as a pendant. These boxes contained small hexagonal Quoran books, which is not there on this one.
Similar boxes were used in Persia and Afghanistan.
Material: high grade silver.
From the first quarter of the 20th century or earlier. It is in overall good condition, although both hinges are broken and the lid has to be attached to the base to be functional.
Provenance: French private collection. The box was sourced in Saudi Arabia in the 60s or 70s.
