This lot consists of two high-purity silver crown coins issued in 1987 to commemorate the Golden Wedding Anniversary (50 years) of Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard. Unlike many modern commemoratives, this series was struck in premium .925 Sterling Silver, making it a center piece for both numismatists and silver investors.
The design, created by artist Geer Steyn, features a modernist, geometric profile of Queen Beatrix on the obverse. The reverse displays the conjoined outlined portraits of the royal couple, surrounded by a unique "half-star" border. Both coins retain their original "mint bloom" and sharp edge reeding.
