The maiko wears a pink kimono and holds a folding fan, with cherry blossom hair ornaments. The lines are gentle and the colouring fresh and elegant, in a typical lyrical Japanese style. The outline of Kinkaku‑ji and pale green garden scenery in the background clearly establish the cultural setting and emphasise the theme of Kyoto scenery.
