Two Lithographs: Three Sisters (三姉妹) & Maiko (舞妓) - Multiple Artists - Japão (Sem preço de reserva)

Two Lithographs: Three Sisters (三姉妹) & Maiko (舞妓) 1. Title: Three Sisters (三姉妹) Artist: Yumi Kusumi (楠見由美) Medium: Lithograph Signature: Artist’s pencil signature Edition: Pencil-numbered 12/100 limited edition Image size: 29.8 × 46.5 cm (11.7 × 18.3 in) Frame size: 44 × 61.5 × 2.2 cm (17.3 × 24.2 × 0.9 in) Paper: Cotton paper This elegant depiction of three classical female figures was created by Japanese printmaker Yumi Kusumi (楠見由美) in the 1980s–1990s. The work focuses on the traditional Japanese jūnihitoe (十二单) court dress, portraying three noble ladies in magnificent Heian-period costumes. The figures wear traditional long hairstyles and golden jewelled crowns, embodying classical noble elegance. Their robes are richly layered and detailed: the outer robes feature pale green backgrounds with pink and blue floral patterns, while inner layers display red backgrounds with golden geometric patterns. The colour palette of red, green, purple and gold is harmonious and splendid. The figure on the left is shown from the back, while the middle and right figures are in three-quarter profile, creating a well‑proportioned spatial composition. The luminous background is achieved using pearlescent/metallic ink or watercolour washes applied over the lithographic base, giving a subtle sheen under light that enhances the classical atmosphere. The work shows rich layers under different lighting and angles, conveying a quiet and elegant Oriental aesthetic. This piece combines the flat composition and delicate lines of Ukiyo-e (浮世絵) with the fine colouring of modern meticulous painting. The figures are softly rounded, following the tradition of Japanese Bijin‑ga (美人絵), while modern lithographic techniques retain a hand‑painted texture. The artist’s signature Yumi Kusumi and edition number 12/100 appear in the lower right. The frame backing bears a label with artist and work information. The original cardboard box is included but shows wear and damage; a matching label is also attached to the box. Due to the sealed frame construction, the reverse of the print cannot be photographed. Presented in its original golden wooden frame with acrylic glazing and white matting. The frame shows minor scuffs and handling marks but is ready to hang. The cardboard box has damage and dust accumulation. Overall condition is good. 2. Title: Maiko (舞妓) Artist: Mase Akira (間瀬顕) Medium: Lithograph Signature: Artist’s pencil signature Edition: Pencil-numbered 11/100 limited edition Image size: 28 × 38 cm (11.0 × 15.0 in) Frame size: 45.7 × 56 × 2 cm (18.0 × 22.0 × 0.8 in) Paper: Cotton paper This depiction of a Kyoto maiko was created by Japanese modern artist Mase Akira (間瀬顕) in the 1980s–1990s. The work centres on a Kyoto maiko with the iconic Kinkaku‑ji (Rokuon‑ji, 鹿苑寺) in the background, combining traditional figure painting with a famous Kyoto landmark. The maiko wears a pink kimono and holds a folding fan, with cherry blossom hair ornaments. The lines are gentle and the colouring fresh and elegant, in a typical lyrical Japanese style. The outline of Kinkaku‑ji and pale green garden scenery in the background clearly establish the cultural setting and emphasise the theme of Kyoto scenery. The background also uses pearlescent/metallic ink or watercolour washes over the lithograph, creating a gentle reflective sheen under light that enhances the classical atmosphere. The limited edition number 11/100 is written in pencil in the lower left, and the artist’s signature AKIRA MASE appears in the lower right. Due to the sealed frame construction, the reverse of the print cannot be photographed. The frame backing bears a label with artist and work information. The original cardboard box is included but shows damage; a matching label is attached to the box. Presented in its original golden wooden frame with acrylic panel and white matting. The frame shows minor scuffs and signs of use and is ready to display. Overall condition is good.
