caixa de amuletos - Cobre - Nepal - Final do século XX

This is an old-fashioned Tibetan Buddhist amulet – a Gau box. The main body of the box is made of Tibetan silver, with the front fully hand-carved in relief, possessing a thick, antique patina, typical of old Tibetan craftsmanship from the highlands. Central niche: Inside the central arched window is a red clay tsa-tsa Buddha image (a small clay Buddha image unique to Tibet, traditionally made with a mixture of red clay, nectar, and medicinal herbs, carrying inherent religious blessings). The Buddha image has hands in mudras and wears a jeweled crown, belonging to the compassionate deity category of Tibetan Buddhism, and is the core deity of the entire Gau. Bottom mythical beast: At the very bottom of the box is carved a snow lion (a guardian deity), a classic image in Tibetan Buddhism protecting the Dharma and warding off evil. The overall border and scrolling foliage patterns are delicate and full, characteristic of old Nepalese hand-carved craftsmanship. Judging from the patina, engraving style, old brocade cloth bag, and traditional tsa-tsa shape, it belongs to the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China period. It is an old gau made in Nepal and used in Tibet. It is a very classic heirloom protective amulet among Tibetan cultural artifacts.
