In "Ecce Homo," Grosz mordant ly satirizes the depravity, violence, and injustice of the Weimar Republic in the aftermath of World War I. The work, which uses art as political critique, depicts a decadent, militaristic, and bourgeois society. The engravings portray war wounded, prostitutes, scarred soldiers, and wealthy bourgeois, highlighting the brutal contrast between social classes and revealing the corruption of the ruling class and the human degradation left in the war's wake.
