Unlike more ornate examples, this piece is undecorated, which gives full emphasis to the purity of its form, the balance of its proportions, and the beauty of its old surface. This example is especially appealing for its warm patina, its quiet sculptural presence, and the quality of its leather apparatus, which adds both function and visual rhythm to the object. An indigenous cord repair further enhances its authenticity and ethnographic character. A handsome traditional utilitarian vessel, combining simplicity, age, and strong decorative appeal.
