WIN Vintage Luxury Lighter Model 0012 – Japan – 1970s/1980s A vintage collectible butane gas lighter made by the Japanese manufacturer WIN (International Lighter Corp.) in the 1970s-1980s. WIN was renowned at the time for manufacturing heavy metal lighters with robust mechanisms and high quality finishes. Brand: WIN (clearly stamped on the base of the lighter). Model: 0012 (luxury series). Finish: Gold plated top, decorated with an asymmetrical three-dimensional geometric pattern of the Diamond Head (Pointe de Diamant) type, which reflects light in a wave shape. Mechanism: Automatic gas system with swing arm and engraved internal instructions ("For flint up and turn / Automatic Gas Shop System"). Functional mechanism: The lighter ignites and produces a flame; the toothed wheel has excellent grip and produces a strong spark. Testing: The piece has only been tested for immediate ignition. It has not been tested long-term to determine if the internal seals maintain gas pressure over an extended period of time. Aesthetic condition: Very good for its age. The gold plating is uniform and well preserved on all sides. It shows a fine microscopic patina of age and normal use, with no dings or structural defects.
