An attractive antique tin-glazed earthenware (faience) shaving basin featuring a traditional crescent-shaped neck cutout and a molded soap indentation on the rim. The well is hand-painted with a charming folk art naive scene depicting a couple in traditional regional costume carrying baskets in a stylized landscape, bordered by a delicate geometric and floral rim pattern. Length: 27 cm Width: 20.5 cm Height: 7 cm Condition In very good antique condition with a well-preserved central glaze and bright colors. Shows characteristic age-related crazing to the tin glaze. There are areas of missing glaze along the rim and on the body which appear to be original production/firing faults typical of early earthenware. No structural cracks or restoration.
