Mashiko ware - Koinuma Michio (肥沼美智雄) (1936-2020) - Garrafa (2) - Grés - com o tomobako original

A distinctive Mashiko ware sake set — one tokkuri (sake bottle) and one matching guinomi cup — by the celebrated Mashiko master Koinuma Michio (1936–2020), signed and accompanied by its original inscribed wooden storage box (tomobako). The pieces are finished in Koinuma's signature dark, bronze-like ground, scattered with raised iron and copper-red dots that evoke the texture of ancient unearthed bronze and earthenware. The robust, slightly archaic silhouette of the tokkuri and the small guinomi together form a quietly powerful set — equally at home on the table and as objects of sculptural contemplation. A characterful work that captures the essence of Koinuma's mature style. Size: Tokkuri (sake bottle): approx. 13 cm (height) × 10 cm (width) × 10 cm (depth) Note: The dimensions listed above refer to the largest piece (the tokkuri); the matching guinomi cup is smaller. 【Artist Profile】 Koinuma Michio (1936–2020) was a leading post-war Mashiko ceramic artist. Born in Tokyo, he was drawn to ceramics by his admiration of the avant-garde Mashiko master Kamoda Shōji, and in 1969 he established his own studio, Ichimoku-gama (一黙窯), in Mashiko, Tochigi Prefecture. Throughout his career he developed a highly personal vocabulary — robust, almost archaeological forms recalling ancient Chinese bronzes and clay haniwa figures, finished in deep, oxidised "old-bronze" surfaces. He was awarded the Grand Prize at the Northern Kantō Art Exhibition (1974), held a solo exhibition in Ginza, Tokyo (1975), and received the Tochigi Prefecture Marronier Craft Culture Award (1991). In 2022, the Mashiko Museum of Ceramic Art held a major retrospective, "Koinuma Michio and His Contemporaries," in his honour. Works by Koinuma are no longer in production; signed, boxed pieces from his lifetime form a finite, increasingly collected body of work. 【About Mashiko Ware】 Mashiko ware (Mashiko-yaki) is produced in Mashiko, Tochigi Prefecture, and traces its origins to the mid-19th century. Internationally renowned through the work of the Living National Treasure Hamada Shōji and the Japanese folk-craft (mingei) movement, Mashiko today is home to a wide community of independent artists known for inventive use of local clays and natural glazes. 【Condition】 In excellent condition, with no damage, complete with its original inscribed wooden storage box (tomobako). Please review all images carefully, as they form part of the description. 【Shipping】 Carefully packed and shipped internationally with full tracking for safe delivery. 【※Important Information – Please Read Before Bidding※】 Customs duties, VAT, and import clearance fees are not included in the shipping cost and are the responsibility of the buyer. These charges vary depending on your country's import regulations and are beyond the seller's control. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
