Era Viking Ferro Cabeça de machado de batalha (Sem preço de reserva)

Attention: due to customs regulations we can only ship inside the European Union. Please ensure you have a valid EU shipping address before placing a bid. Viking Age, iron battle axe head with a broad flaring blade, narrow neck, and rectangular butt. The central socket is preserved, showing where the wooden haft would originally have passed through. The blade widens strongly towards the cutting edge, giving the axe a powerful and functional profile. -> Axes were among the most important tools and weapons of the Viking Age. They were used in daily life for woodworking, building, farming, and ship-related tasks, but could also serve as effective weapons in combat. The simple iron construction reflects the practical and robust character of Viking-period metalwork. Length: ± 20,5 cm Weight: ± 1,39 kg Condition: Fair condition with iron corrosion, pitting, encrustation, and age-related wear. The general form, socket, and flaring blade are well preserved. Must be handled with care. Certificate of Authenticity (PDF) is available upon request for all lots with a hammer price of €100 or higher. -> In Viking society, the axe was both a practical tool and a weapon. Unlike swords, which were expensive prestige objects, axes were more widely available and could be adapted for many purposes. -> Viking axe heads varied greatly in shape and size, from compact working axes to larger fighting axes. The broad blade and narrow neck seen here are typical features of iron axe heads designed for effective cutting power. -> Iron objects from the Viking period often survive with heavy corrosion due to the nature of the material. Even so, the preserved silhouette of an axe head can still clearly show its original design and function.
