Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm 1:4 Ai-s — Legendary Constant-Aperture Manual Focus Telephoto Zoom

A clean, working example of the Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm 1:4 Ai-s, widely regarded as Nikon's finest manual-focus telephoto zoom. Produced from 1981 to 1998, this constant f/4 aperture push-pull zoom features a 13-elements-in-9-groups optical design and a fully metal construction. It is praised by reviewers worldwide for its excellent sharpness wide open, beautiful color rendering, and tank-like build quality — a true collector-grade and shooter-grade lens that remains highly sought after even today.

Because it is Ai-s, this lens is fully compatible not only with Nikon film SLRs (FE, FM, F3 etc.) but also with modern Nikon DSLR and mirrorless bodies (via adapter for Z series). On full-frame DSLR / mirrorless bodies, all aperture settings work in full manual / aperture-priority modes — a genuine "shoot-with-it-today" classic lens.

Including:
- Lens only (no caps, no hood)

Appearance:
Vintage cosmetic wear consistent with age. The lens barrel shows light use marks only — no dents, no deep scratches. Rubber grip on the push-pull zoom ring is in good condition with no cracking or peeling. Painted markings are clear and legible.

Optical system:
Optics are clear — no fungus, no haze, no balsam separation, and no major scratches visible in the front or rear elements. A small amount of dust may be present inside the lens (typical for any vintage zoom lens) but does not affect image quality.

Operation:
- Aperture ring: f/4 – f/32, click stops feel correct
- Aperture blades: clean and dry, snap correctly
- Push-pull zoom (80 – 200 mm): smooth, no excessive looseness
- Focus ring: smooth, no excessive resistance
- Built-in retractable lens hood: present
- Ai-s coupling: works correctly with all Ai / Ai-s Nikon bodies

Specifications:
- Focal length: 80 – 200 mm
- Maximum aperture: f/4 (constant throughout zoom range)
- Minimum aperture: f/32
- Optical formula: 13 elements in 9 groups, multi-coated
- Filter size: 62 mm
- Minimum focus distance: 1.2 m (3.9 ft)
- Mount: Nikon F (Ai-s)
- Country of manufacture: Japan
- Production years: 1981 – 1998

Notes:
This is one of the most highly regarded manual-focus telephoto zooms ever made by Nikon, frequently recommended by professional reviewers as the best MF telephoto zoom for both film and digital Nikon bodies. Please refer to the photos for the exact condition.
