Introduced in April 1976, the Canon AE-1 stands as one of the most iconic and historically significant cameras ever produced. It was the world's first microprocessor-controlled SLR camera, a groundbreaking achievement that transformed the photography industry and made advanced photography accessible to millions of enthusiasts worldwide. Selling over 5.7 million units during its production run from 1976 to 1984, the AE-1 is widely regarded as one of the best-selling SLR film cameras of all time.

The AE-1 features a shutter-speed priority automatic exposure system, allowing photographers to set their desired shutter speed while the camera's built-in TTL center-weighted metering system selects the appropriate aperture automatically. It also supports full manual exposure control, making it an ideal camera for both beginners and experienced photographers. The electronically controlled horizontal cloth focal plane shutter operates at speeds from 2 seconds to 1/1000 second plus Bulb, with flash X-sync at 1/60 second. The large, bright viewfinder is equipped with a split-image rangefinder and microprism collar for precise manual focusing.

This set comes with the legendary Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 SSC lens — a classic "standard" prime lens celebrated for its exceptional sharpness and beautiful out-of-focus rendering (bokeh). The SSC (Super Spectra Coating) multi-layer coating ensures outstanding contrast and colour fidelity. This is the older breech-lock style FD mount lens; please note that the mounting method differs from modern bayonet lenses.
