Between Presence and Space, 75 × 110 cm
This painting is part of an ongoing series of contemporary figurative interiors by Malgorzata Oleszkiewicz. The works in this series are connected by a recurring orange sign placed in the upper right corner - a distinctive visual motif that functions as a quiet signal, a mark of continuity and a recognisable element within the artist’s language.
The composition combines a delicate female figure with a strong geometric architectural interior. The almost translucent figure is placed within a carefully constructed space of planes, perspective and colour fields. Saturated magenta, orange, blue and grey tones create a powerful contrast with the quiet, subtle presence of the woman.
The painting moves between contemporary figurative art, geometric abstraction and architectural interior composition. It explores themes of presence, silence, memory, waiting and psychological space. The contrast between the fragile hand-drawn figure and the bold modernist structure gives the work a refined, contemplative and emotionally charged atmosphere.
A distinctive piece for collectors interested in contemporary European painting, figurative abstraction, geometric interiors, modernist space, symbolic interiors and female portraiture.
It is a unique, original painting by the artist.
The painting is varnished, which enhances the depth of colour and protects the surface. It is signed by the artist in the lower right corner. The painted edges of the canvas allow the work to be displayed without a frame. A certificate of authenticity signed by the artist is included.
Acrylic and pencil on primed canvas stretched over a wooden frame (unframed). Shipped stretched on the stretcher bars, not rolled. Carefully protected and packed in a rigid cardboard box intended for the transport of artwork.
About the Artist:
Małgorzata Oleszkiewicz is a visual artist holding Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Fine Arts and Design, working across painting, collage, photography, and spatial projects. Her practice explores the relationship between the human figure and architectural space, operating at the intersection of figuration and abstraction. Her works are characterised by restrained compositions, geometric structures, and subtle tensions between colour, space, and presence.
Oleszkiewicz’s artistic research focuses on the figure as a carrier of psychological states within constructed or fragmented environments. Rather than narrative depiction, her paintings investigate perception, distance, and the quiet dynamics between bodies and space.
Education
Małgorzata Oleszkiewicz studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Faculty of Interior Architecture and Scenography, additionally attending elective courses in Painting and Graphic Arts during her master’s studies.
