Original Central Bank of Cyprus 20 Pounds banknote, dated 1 March 1993, preserved in uncirculated (UNC) condition.
This is the 1993 corrected first issue (Pick P-56b), a scarce type introduced after the initial 1992 printing. The corrected variety is distinguished by the amended Turkish inscription “YİRMİ LİRA”, replacing the error found on the earlier 1992 issue. This makes it an important and desirable banknote in the modern series of Cypriot currency.
The obverse features the famous Bust of Aphrodite from Soli, together with the coat of arms of the Republic of Cyprus. The reverse depicts the ancient Kyrenia ship, one of the island’s most iconic archaeological discoveries.
The note retains crisp paper, original colours and sharp corners, with no evidence of circulation, making it an excellent example for collectors.
