Yasuo Tamaoki (玉置保夫)(1941-) - Cálice - Grés - Oribe Goblet, Grape Motif

Green runs wild here. A stoneware goblet by Yasuo Tamaoki (玉置保夫), executed in the dramatic Oribe tradition — one of Japan's most iconic ceramic styles, born in the Mino kilns of the 16th century and still very much alive in the hands of contemporary masters. The surface is painted with bold grape-and-vine motifs in iron black, while pools of vivid green copper-oxide Oribe glaze flow freely across the body, creating an asymmetry that feels both ancient and utterly alive. This is not a piece to be hidden in a cabinet. It demands to be seen, held, and used. Complete with original signed wooden box (tomobako) and the artist's biographical document — full provenance preserved. Works by Yasuo Tamaoki with complete provenance are increasingly difficult to find on the international market. A rare opportunity for collectors of contemporary Mino ware. 【Artist Profile】 Yasuo Tamaoki (玉置保夫, b.1941) was born in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture — the historic heartland of Mino ceramics. He trained at the Gifu Prefectural Ceramics Research Institute and was selected for the prestigious Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition from 1955. He became a full member of the Japan Kogei Association in 1968, received the Tokai Traditional Crafts Exhibition Grand Prize in 1977, and the Japan Ceramics Society Award in 1980. In 1985 he received the Special Jury Prize at the 1st International Ceramics Festival in Mino. He was designated an Intangible Cultural Property of Tajimi City in 2002, and of Gifu Prefecture in 2008 — among the highest honours in Japanese traditional ceramics. 【Condition】 Excellent condition. Barely used, with only minimal signs of careful handling. No cracks, chips, or restorations. Comes with the original signed wooden box (tomobako) and the artist's biographical document. 【Shipping】 Carefully packed and shipped internationally with full tracking for safe delivery. ※ Important Information – Please Read Before Bidding ※ Customs duties, VAT, and import clearance fees are not included in the shipping cost and are the responsibility of the buyer.
