Large Chinese Cloisonné Enamel Vase – Brass – Decorated with the Hundred Treasures (Scholar's Objects) Motif – Mid-to-Late 20th Century

A finely crafted Chinese cloisonné enamel vase dating to the second half of the 20th century, executed on a brass body with richly coloured enamels against a deep cobalt-blue ground.
The elegant baluster form is entirely decorated with an elaborate composition of stylised flowers and traditional Chinese Scholar's Objects, also known as the Hundred Treasures. Rather than depicting a continuous landscape, the decoration presents an auspicious assemblage of treasured objects associated with the Chinese scholar's studio, prosperity, refinement and longevity.
Among the recognisable motifs are ornamental flower vases, potted plants, flowering branches, a tripod incense burner, a water vessel, a stack of books, musical stones (lithophone), paired clappers or cymbals, a medicinal double gourd tied with a red ribbon, and various symbolic treasures and decorative emblems. Other stylised motifs—including spotted fruit-like forms, geometric tablets and ceremonial objects—contribute to the lively and highly decorative composition typical of mid-20th-century Chinese cloisonné.
The decoration is executed with finely applied brass cloisons filled with vibrant polychrome enamels in shades of cobalt blue, turquoise, green, pink, yellow, white and aubergine. The brass rim and foot provide an elegant contrast to the brilliant enamel work.
The base is finished in blue enamel and is unmarked, a feature commonly found on Chinese export cloisonné produced during the second half of the 20th century.
Condition
Very good vintage condition. Bright enamels with excellent colour retention. Minor age-related wear consistent with careful use. No visible cracks, significant enamel losses or restorations observed. Please carefully observe the photos, they form part of the description.
