Jarra - Bronze - Japão - Motivo de Libélula e Trigo

Item Description This bronze vase is the work of Neya Churoku (根箭忠録 Neya Churoku, 1897–1987), a metalwork artist active from the Taishō through the Shōwa era. Born in Osaka and trained at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, Churoku exhibited regularly at the Teiten and Shin-Bunten national exhibitions, winning the tokusen grand prize at the 15th Teiten in 1934 and later receiving mukansa (juror-exempt) status. His work is associated with the Art Deco and Modernist currents in early twentieth-century Japanese metalwork. The vase has an elongated ovoid body divided into vertical panels alternating between warm bronze and gold-toned patina, a treatment characteristic of Churoku's decorative approach. Each panel is chased with a stylised naturalistic motif, including dragonflies and wheat-like grasses, rendered in fine incised gold-coloured lines against the darker bronze ground. The narrow neck and rounded shoulder give the piece a distinctive silhouette typical of Art Deco-influenced Japanese bronze work of the period. The base bears the artist's stamped seal marks, confirming attribution. The piece was previously sold through Ginza Wako, the well-known Tokyo department store and jeweller associated with high-quality decorative arts. Size Height: 30 cm Width: 15 cm Depth: 15 cm Weight 2441 g Condition The vase shows light surface wear and a few scattered marks on the patinated bronze consistent with age and handling; no dents, cracks, or repairs were observed on visual inspection. Additional Information Artist: Neya Churoku (根箭忠録, 1897–1987) Period: Taishō to Shōwa era, Japan Material: Cast bronze with patinated finish Provenance: Formerly sold through Ginza Wako, Tokyo NOITICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation.
