Elegant jewelry or vanity napkin box in a heart shape, made of brass/bronze with detailed lace-like motifs and scrolls in relief on the sides. The top features a central oval medallion framed with a hand-painted miniature portrait of a noblewoman in the late 18th-century style, showing a hairstyle with a blue ribbon and period clothing. The interior is lined with original dark velvet.
Year / Period: Circa late 19th century to early 20th century (c. 1890–1920). It is a neoclassical/Rococo revival piece that was very popular during the Belle Époque.
Origin: France (probably made in Paris, typical of French trinket boxes / snuff boxes made as keepsakes or for the vanity).
Material:
- Body: Gilded brass or bronze (ormolu), decorated with guilloché/floral engravings and reliefs.
- Lid / Medallion: Miniature painting on ivory or porcelain, protected under a convex glass/crystal.
