INFORMATION ON COLLOTYPE:
Collotype is a type of lithographic printing that is around 125 years old and has now been discontinued. It was used to achieve an almost photographic reproduction with up to fourteen color printing passes (with special decades-long lightfast colors) by means of screenless wrinkle grain, which is by far the noblest printing technique and cannot be achieved lightfast even today with the most modern production methods.
Due to the time-consuming, manual and therefore cost-intensive work process, the lack of artist or museum commissions and the lack of future prospects for specialized skilled workers, this most faithful of all known printing processes has been considered “extinct” worldwide for two decades and can no longer be produced.
This is why these last classic facsimile collotype prints are something special and irretrievable for every lover of historical printing art.
The print will be sent well packed and insured.
