Description: An exquisite late 19th-century German porcelain cup and saucer set in the Rococo revival style, featuring the classic four-panel quatrefoil design (Ausschnitt-Dekor). Hand-painted Panels: The cup and scalloped saucer are divided into four main decorative reserves separated by intricate gilt scrollwork and lattice borders. Two panels feature beautifully detailed, hand-painted romantic courting couples (Galanterien) in lush landscapes, painted in the traditional Watteau / Boucher style. Two alternating panels feature vibrant polychrome European floral sprays (Deutsche Blumen) against a soft turquoise/sky-blue ground. Form & Gilding: The cup features a lobed, scalloped rim with an elegant Baroque-style scroll handle. Rich gold gilding decorates the rims, inner borders, and handle. Cup Base: Marked with the famous underglaze blue crowned monogram. This monogram was famously used by the renowned Dresden decorating workshop of Helena Wolfsohn in the late 19th century (c. 1875–1883) prior to the trademark dispute with Meissen. Saucer Base: Marked with an underglaze blue mark of Carl Thieme. General: Overall very good antique condition for its age with strong, vibrant colors and intact painted panels.
