La Compagna dell’Incanto, uma pintura a óleo barroca de Itália (2020+), por Bivaga (1972), retrato de uma mulher com um unicórnio, 70 x 50 cm, edição original.
Descrição fornecida pelo vendedor
In La Compagna dell’Incanto, Bivaga enters the realm of the fantastical, bringing together the elegance of classical portraiture with the timeless mythology of the unicorn.
A young woman rests beside the mythical creature with an expression of quiet contemplation. Her lowered gaze and delicate gesture create an intimate relationship between the human figure and the animal, presenting the unicorn not as a symbol of spectacle, but as a silent companion. Its luminous white coat and flowing mane emerge dramatically from the darkness, becoming the visual counterpart to the sitter’s warm complexion and richly coloured garments.
The floral crown introduces another layer of symbolism. Roses and pale blossoms surround the woman’s hair like a natural halo, connecting her to the enchanted world inhabited by the unicorn. The flowers, pearls and gilded details of her costume echo the creature’s purity, creating a visual language in which nature, beauty and fantasy coexist.
Light plays a central role in the composition. It moves softly across the woman’s face, shoulders and translucent lace before catching the unicorn’s mane and horn. Against the deep surrounding shadows, these illuminated details acquire an almost dreamlike presence.
Bivaga draws upon the visual traditions of European romantic and classical portraiture while introducing an unmistakably fantastical subject. The result is a portrait suspended between reality and imagination, where the unicorn becomes a metaphor for innocence, wonder and the part of the human imagination that remains untouched by the ordinary world.
La Compagna dell’Incanto invites the viewer not simply to observe a mythical scene, but to enter it.
