Qajar Twin-Blade Ceremonial- decorative Axe – 20th Century – Persian – Horned Lion with Sword Motif
This is a collectible twin-blade ceremonial axe from Persia, dating to the Qajar dynasty. Crafted from iron and richly adorned with engraved floral and animal motifs, it represents a fine example of Persian metal artistry.
The most striking feature is the mythological depiction on both blades: a horned lion holding a sword, with a rider grasping one horn with a single hand. This symbolic scene reflects themes of power, dominion over nature, and royal courage — all deeply rooted in Persian visual culture.
