Unknown - 4/4 - - Violino - Alemanha - 1900

This violin is built in the Germanic trade style, most likely from the late 19th or early 20th century. The f-holes are broader and less refined than those of the Cremonese school, with a more upright cut typical of German or Bohemian instruments from that period. The scroll is functional and roughly carved, consistent with mass-produced workshop instruments rather than individually luthier-made ones. The instrument displays heavy varnish wear, with a patina and edge damage indicating age and extensive use. The back is two-piece maple with visible flame, but with less attention to symmetrical bookmatching, supporting the assessment of a workshop origin rather than a master maker. The tailpiece with built-in fine tuners is a modern replacement, common in restored student instruments. The construction and wear indicate this violin was built as a durable, functional instrument, likely for the student or amateur market in the German region, using external mold construction and machine-assisted carving. Please be aware: the strings need to be replaced. Length of the body: 36 cm Width of the upper bout: 16 cm Width of the middle bout: 11 cm Width of the lower bout: 20 cm Rib height: approximately 3 cm String length: approximately 33 cm Total length (including the neck and scroll): 60 cm Packaging and Shipping: Our commitment extends beyond the auction. The instrument will be professionally packaged and shipped within 3 workdays after payment, to ensure its safe journey to your doorstep. PostNL/DHL/DPD/UPS shipping options are available, tailored to your location you will always get the cheapest option. We understand the importance of a seamless process, and our team is dedicated to making your acquisition a worry-free experience. Warranty: Your satisfaction is important to us. This violin comes with a full warranty as per Catawiki’s terms and conditions. Notice: Pictures in this auction are part of the description.
