Small thick octavo, illustrated with 15 small woodcuts, pp viii, 326, + a 1 page list of Darwin's works, the small errata slip tipped-i before page 1, the hinge at pages 128/129 a little cracked but not weak (see illustration, slight foxing to the last couple of pages otherwise extremely clean internally, the front endpapers just slightly marked and an exposed hinge towards the lower part. Original green cloth, slightly blotched and just very slightly worn,the spine slightly dark, but overall quite good. A pleasant firm copy. Freeman 1359. The last of Darwin's works to be published, and one of the most successful; six thousand copies being sold in the first year.
