Sesame Street - “Water Conservation” (1990) Original Production Cel (two-layer) - Signed by Peter Chung Sesame Street is one of the most influential educational television programs ever produced, known worldwide for combining entertainment with social and environmental education. Alongside its iconic puppets, the show regularly featured animated segments designed to communicate everyday values through clear and memorable visual storytelling. This lot comes from the animated short “Water Conservation” (1990), produced by Klasky Csupo, the studio later famous for Rugrats. The segment addresses environmental awareness through a simple yet effective narrative. The character Carl is shown brushing his teeth while leaving the faucet running, a moment that visually demonstrates how careless water use drains the pond of Frank the fish. These images appear at approximately the 0:12 mark of the short. The artwork is an original hand-painted production cel signed by renowned animator and director Peter Chung (Æon Flux). This is a two-layer, sideways 12-field production cel. The overall cel size is approximately 32 × 27 cm and the visible image areas measure approximately 21 × 25.5 cm and 18 × 25 cm. Included with the cel is a group of original animation drawings executed in graphite and colored pencils, depicting Carl and the flowing water. A faint stain is visible on the top right corner of one animation drawing showing water. Light handling and edge wear consistent with studio production are present. Overall condition is Very Good.
