Verreries Schneider - Gaston Hoffmann - Vas - Sticlă

Rare early vase by Charles Schneider decorated with a Japanese scenery with cranes above a lake with mountains on the back ground.

After a drawing by Gaston Hoffmann, executed between 1918 and 1921.

Hoffmann (1883 - 1977) was a friend of Charles Schneider that he knew from the Ecole des Beaux Arts and with whom he collaborated in 1918.

A drawing from the Schneider archives in 1914 shows a glass cup and saucer with the same decoration by Gaston Hoffmann and is shown in the Schneider book by T. Esveld.

It was not executed before 1918 as result of the beginning of WW 1 in 1914, when Schneider had to prospone the opening of the artistic glass factory.

Multilayer etched glass with engraved signature preceeded by an amphora.

Excellent condition and 20 cm tall.
