Baston - Bambus, Argint, Corn - Epoca edwardiană 1900–1910
A finely crafted antique walking stick, featuring a beautifully curved horn handle and a richly decorated bamboo shaft.
The shaft is intricately hand-carved with traditional Chinese motifs, including a detailed figural scene, reflecting the characteristic narrative style of East Asian decorative craftsmanship. The warm-toned bamboo shows a natural patina, enhancing the depth and contrast of the carved decoration.
The handle is fitted with an acid tested silver collar, typical of export pieces where silver was often of variable purity and not always hallmarked, adding an elegant contrast between the organic material and refined metalwork. The stick retains its original metal ferrule.
The overall form is both functional and decorative, making this piece an attractive example of late 19th to early 20th century craftsmanship, likely of Chinese origin, created for export, circa 1880–1920.
Good antique condition, with age-related wear and minor imperfections consistent with use. The carving remains crisp and clearly visible, and the piece presents very well.
A characterful and visually striking piece, ideal for collectors of walking sticks or Asian decorative arts.
