This set of vases with the name 'VATEL" was designed by René Delvenne and made by Val Saint Lambert in Belgium around the middle of the last century. The twisted design is regularly found on vases from this talented designer. There can never be two of these hand-made vases identical as is seen with these two vases with the same design and similar colouring, one large and one significantly smaller. To find two Vatel vases in this beautiful AMETHYST colour is a rare find indeed! The lower part of the vases are delicately tinted, gradually deepening to explode into a stunning, deeper amethyst towards the top. The larger vase is 16cm. high x 18.5cm. diameter at the top., and weighs 1600 grams. The smaller vase is 14.5cm. high x 14.5cm. diameter at the top, and weighs 1275 grams. This latter vase shows an original Val Saint Lambert sticker on the front and is in near MINT condition with only very slight scratching on the base. The larger vase is signed on the base "Val St. Lambert" and has a tiny fleabite (see last photo) but is otherwise in excellent condition. This combination is unusual and the colour VERY LOVELY!
