This vintage mid-century modern ceramic vase is executed in the distinctive sgraffito style often associated with Bay Keramik. The piece is characterised by its highly textured surface, combining incised linear patterns with raised, swirling motifs that create a dynamic visual rhythm across its form. Constructed from ceramic, the vase features a complex glaze application in tones of brown, beige, and gold, with subtle metallic accents highlighting the carved details. Measuring 37 centimetres in height, the vessel displays a robust, slightly tapered silhouette that provides a substantial canvas for the intricate sgraffito technique. The contrasting textures—from the smooth, wood-grain-like upper section to the speckled and deeply grooved lower areas—demonstrate a sophisticated approach to surface decoration typical of the era. The vase remains in good overall condition, retaining its structural integrity and the vibrancy of its original glazes. The piece exhibits a character consistent with its age, reflecting its history as a functional decorative object. This sgraffito vase serves as a compelling focal point in mid-century modern or eclectic interiors. Its earthy palette and tactile qualities make it an excellent complement to natural wood furniture and other vintage ceramics.
