The painting explores time through the vulnerability of the human body: skin that has only just entered the world beside skin marked by decades of living. Rather than presenting age and youth as opposites, the work shows them as part of the same brief cycle—both fragile, dependent and in need of touch. Francien Krieg is a Dutch figurative painter whose work explores the body, vulnerability, ageing and human presence. She has exhibited internationally for over twenty years. Recent highlights include Five and Under at Arcadia Contemporary in New York and an invitation to present work with the gallery at Art Miami and the LA Art Show. In 2023, she received second prize in the Dutch Painting of the Year competition.
