DKW - Auto-Union F12 - NO RESERVE - 1963

GENERAL: In 1932, the German car manufacturers Audi, Horch, Wanderer, and DKW merged to form Auto Union. DKW’s focus within the group was to manufacture small passenger cars and motorcycles. The abbreviation DKW has been interpreted in various ways, such as *Dampf-Kraft-Wagen* (steam-powered vehicle) or *Das Kleine Wunder* (the little wonder). After the world wars, DKW re-established itself in West Germany. In 1959, they introduced a new model, the Junior, which evolved into the F12 in 1963. The F12 featured a larger 899 cc three-cylinder two-stroke engine and a more spacious interior. DKW’s story ended in the hands of Daimler-Benz and Volkswagen, but its legacy continues today under the Audi name. BODYWORK & PAINTWORK: The 1963 DKW F12 has been preserved in an original, unrestored condition. Its bodywork remains neat, and the paintwork, especially in the interior, is still original. No major restorations have been done, retaining the car’s authentic charm. TECHNICAL: The car is equipped with a 900 cc two-stroke, three-cylinder engine, which starts easily and runs reliably. The gearbox also functions well. The engine feels lively and fits the character of this compact classic car. INTERIOR: The interior of the vehicle is completely original, including the upholstery and paintwork. Despite its age, it has been carefully preserved and maintained in a clean condition. DOCUMENTS: All original documents and keys have been preserved. This includes the original maintenance booklet, the owner’s guide addressed to the first owner, a user manual with a Finnish-language insert, and Veho’s DKW spare parts brochure. All documents are stored in the original DKW vinyl folder. PICKUP: The car is located in Vantaa, approximately 25 minutes from Helsinki–Vantaa Airport, making it easily accessible for international buyers. OTHER INFORMATION: The vehicle was first imported new by Veho and sold by the Auto-Sun DKW dealer in Lappeenranta. It was first registered on 21 October 1963, with the original owner being watchmaker L. Venesoja. Since 1989, it has been registered as a historic vehicle and owned by various car enthusiasts. The most recent historic vehicle inspection was completed in May 2025 and is valid until May 2029.
