He is also regarded as a highly important figure for having continued Gōshun’s lineage and established the Shijō-ha"四条派. This work is a hanging scroll that faithfully represents the authentic Shijō-ha style, yet it makes use of negative space; on a single drooping cherry branch, a small bird is depicted. The color usage is restrained, yet carefully rendered, and it embodies the Shijō-ha realm characteristic of Keibun. The inscription (box inscription) was made by "Gyokushō Kawabata"川端玉章(1842~1913), a painter of the "Maruyama school"円山派 who was active in the "Meiji era"明治時代.
