This is a soccer-themed piece from Rizzi's "EVERYONE" series.
Rizzi focused on urban motifs in the 1970s and 1980s, but in the 1990s,
he became interested in themes that anyone could relate to and themes that evoked clear emotions.
He said that sports in particular were like a feast that could be enjoyed by both children and adults,
and his goal was to depict the positive power of sports as popular culture.
In a 1990s interview, Rizzi said:
"Sports brings people from all over the world together in the same place and makes them feel the same emotions.
Getting angry, laughing, crying when you win, crying when you lose. They're such pure moments."
Players and spectators alike chase the same ball and experience the thrill of sharing joy in the same space, transcending race, which is the philosophy behind his work.
The frame is a unique one created by the gallery at the time as a playful gesture.
There is some minor scuffing on the frame.
The artwork itself is in excellent condition with no stains, discoloration, or fading.
Size: Frame: 56cm x 55cm, Thickness: 4cm, Weight: 3200g
