Cărucior pentru servit - Lemn, Metal, coarne de kudu
A rare and highly decorative handmade vintage bar cart / serving trolley from South Africa, probably dating from the 1970s to the early 1980s.
The trolley is made from solid hardwood, believed to be kiaat or imbuia / emboya, with four real kudu horns forming the sculptural legs. The trolley is mounted on small metal castors and has a raised wooden serving tray at the top, with a lower shelf suitable for bottles, glasses, barware or display items.
This is not a standard production item. It was handmade in South Africa by a family craftsman who was like a grandfather figure to us. The piece has remained in the family ever since and is now being offered for sale because we are preparing to move to Australia.
The combination of warm solid wood, natural kudu horns and handmade construction gives the piece a strong African lodge, safari and vintage design character. It would work well as a drinks trolley, side table, decorative object, lodge interior piece, bar cart or statement piece in a living room, study, office, man cave, hospitality interior or collector’s space.
Good vintage condition. The wood has a warm natural tone and visible grain, with small age related marks and light signs of use. The kudu horns show natural colour variation, patina and light wear consistent with age. The structure feels solid and the trolley stands on small castors.
